IF you are already scouring the shops for the perfect little party number to make you feel fabulous this festive season, check out Dunstable’s newest shopping spot, Becky’s Boutique.
The women’s clothing store was opened in High Street South, by Councillor Beverley Whayman, on Saturday and has been packed with fashionistas ever since.
Owner Becky Hope has been thrilled with the successful start.
She told the Gazette: “It was amazing really. It was really busy – constant all the way through Saturday.”
The 37-year-old offers trendsetters an array of garments in sizes eight to 16, as well as accessories including scarves and costume jewellery.
“I’m trying to get larger sizes for the larger ladies, too,” said Becky, who only moved to Dunstable around five years ago to be closer to her parents and twin sister Emma.
Becky originally trained as a gymnastics teacher at a sports college before working at the opticians in Ashton Square, Dunstable.
She decided to take a leap and invest in the boutique after dreaming of the opportunity for some time.
“I’ve always wanted to do something like this,” she said.
“I’ve always been interested in fashion, looking around the shops and looking on the internet.
“There is nothing like this around here and I wanted to draw people into the town centre as everyone goes into Luton and MK.”
Becky, who describes her own style as smart casual, went with the owner of Dunstable’s Lock, Stock and Clobber to check out wholesale clothing warehouses and then began fitting out her shop.
“I just choose what I like. I try them and touch them,” said Becky.
“The things I’ve chosen seem to be going down quite well.
“It’s nice to wear something different and that’s what I like to look out for. Different and comfortable as well.”
Becky’s Boutique is open seven days a week between now and Christmas. Opening hours are shorter on a Sunday, from 10am until 1pm.
